- Fill out the audition form (here). You can fill this out online and print OR print a blank form and fill out by hand. Form must be brought with you to the audition.
Deadline for sign ups is noon the day of the audition. No walk-on auditions will be allowed. All auditions must be scheduled via the online portal above.
Prepare 16 measures of a song of your choice and bring the music track (without vocals) on an ipod/music player. Wear comfortable clothing that you are able to dance in and arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time to check-in.
Call-back is Wednesday, May 9 at Chula Vista High School – Little Theatre on K St. from 4-7 pm. Be prepared to sing and read.

Last week, Sweetwater High School’s Mariachi Nuevo Aguadulce was invited to play at the Fox 5 San Diego Morning Show. The same week, they attended Mariachi Workshops at USD and learned from some of the best mariachi musicians in the industry. On Sunday, March 11th, 2018, they participated in the Mariachi Festival & Competition at Pepper Park, in National City and won third place! Congratulations to Mariachi Nuevo Aguadulce and their Mariachi Instructor, Fredd Sanchez!
The Sweetwater Summer Arts Academy is a FREE one week camp offered each summer to over 150 Sweetwater Union High School District students in String Orchestra, Choir, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Dance, Mariachi, and Visual Art. This year it will take place at the Army Navy Academy in Carlsbad from June 11 – 16, 2018.
The intense week closes with student performances and an art exhibit on Saturday, June 16th at Chula Vista High School Jack Tygett Performing Arts Center.
Deadline to submit the online interest form was March 16th, 2018. Selected students are notified by mail in mid April.

District Show Choir Festival is Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Eastlake High School Ruth Chapman Performing Arts Center (1120 Eastlake Parkway, Chula Vista, 91915) Featuring SUHSD’s Show Choirs. General admission is $5 at the door.
Participating Schools: Bonita Vista High School, Chula Vista High School, Eastlake High School, Otay Ranch High School, and Sweetwater High School.

District Dance Concert is Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Eastlake High School Ruth Chapman Performing Arts Center (1120 Eastlake Parkway, Chula Vista, 91915) Featuring SUHSD’s middle and high school dance programs. Tickets are $5 and are only available in advance; please contact a Dance Teacher at your school.
Participating Schools: Bonita Vista High School, Castle Park High School, Chula Vista High School, Chula Vista Middle School, Eastlake High School, Olympian High School, Otay Ranch High School, Southwest High School, and Sweetwater High School.

District Baile Folklorico Concert is Friday & Saturday March 9 & 10, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday Matinee at 2:00 p.m. Location: San Ysidro High School Dr. Maida Torres-Stanovik Performing Arts Center (5353 Airway Road, San Diego 92154) Featuring SUHSD Folklorico groups representing diverse regions of Mexico, displaying traditional costumes, and wonderfully choreographed routines. Tickets are $10

SUHSD Student Art Exhibition is February 16 – April 3, 2018 at the South Chula Vista Library (389 Orange Avenue, Chula Vista, 91911) Featuring middle and high school student artwork from throughout the district. Free admission. Award Ceremony was Friday, March 9th, 2018.

District’s 22nd Annual StringFest is Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Sweetwater High School Gymnasium (2900 Highland Avenue, National City, CA 91950) Featuring hundreds of student performers! District String Orchestra directed by Jennifer Opdahl, District Symphonic Orchestra directed by Greg Caldera and Maren Glover, and the Combined Middle and High School Orchestra directed by guest conductor Mr. Michael Gerdes. General admission is $5 at the door.
