Olympian High School – Mr. Eric Mabrey

Congratulations to Mr. Eric Mabrey, Olympian High School band director, on receiving the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association’s Outstanding Veteran Music Educator Award on Saturday. Mr. Mabrey previously taught at Chula Vista High, Chula Vista Middle, has been involved in our Summer Theatre Institute and Summer Arts Academy, and is a SUHSD alum. Way to go!”

Congratulations to Sweetwater High School’s After School Arts Program for creating an impressive mural at Frank Toyota in National City, CA. A formal presentation took place on Friday, January 26th at 3 p.m. The arts program was awarded $500!

District Scene and Monologue Festival

The 2nd Annual District Scene and Monologue Festival was Saturday, January 27th, 2018 from 9AM – 3PM Location: Chula Vista High School Jack Tygett Performing Arts Center (820 Fourth Avenue, Chula Vista, CA 91911)

It featured workshops, dramatic & comedic scenes and monologues adjudicated by professionals. Hosted by Chula Vista High and San Ysidro High Drama Departments. Registration deadline was Friday, January 19, 2018.

Eastlake High School Drama Department presents two one acts of “13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interviews” and “The 9 Worst Breakups of All Time” from April 24-26, 2018. Eastlake High School – Titan Regiment 1st Gala Concert & Dinner

Eastlake High School Titan Regiment presents their 1st Gala Concert & Dinner Night on April 13th, 2018 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Ruth Chapman Performing Arts Center. Featuring Eastlake High School concert bands, solos, quartets and a special guest.

Holiday Sing Concerts

District Holiday Sing Concerts were Tuesday, December 5th and Thursday, December 7th at 6:30 p.m. Location: Bonita Valley Community Church (4744 Bonita Rd., Bonita, CA 91902) Middle and high school choirs from throughout the district provided a full stage of holiday music as well as traditional numbers for two consecutive nights.

The 50th Annual Band Pageant is Thursday, November 16, 2017 – 6PM at San Ysidro High School Football Field (5353 Airway Rd, San Diego, CA 92154) Featuring SUHSD Middle and High School Bands. Tickets are $5, free admission for children 4 and under.
