Her artwork, Diversidad, won 1st Place at the Congressional Art Award, CA-51st District, with the Hon. Juan Vargas. Her artwork will be displayed for one year at the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. Teacher: Ed Lim.

Giovanna Sanchez wins 1st Place in Congressional Art Competition for the CA-53rd District

Her artwork, Piñata, won 1st Place at the Congressional Art Award, CA-53rd District, with the Hon. Sara Jacobs. Her artwork will be displayed for one year at the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. 2nd Place: Lili Mancilla, Untitled. 3rd Place: Paola Castillo, News. Additionally, the artwork of 16 Bonita Vista High School students is on display at the San Diego History Center in Balboa Park. Teacher: Ed Lim.

Summer Arts Academy – 2022

The Summer Arts Academy for VAPA students was amazing! We would like to congratulate and thank all the students, teachers, parents, and staff for a successful camp this year!

The SUHSD Summer Arts Academy was a FREE one-week camp offered each summer to Sweetwater Union High School District students that are currently enrolled in the arts. The camp celebrated the Visual Arts, Choir, Concert Band, Dance, Orchestra, Mariachi, Baile Folklórico, and Color Guard.

Once again, we would like to thank all the students that participated this year. Have a great summer break and see you next year!

The Summer Arts Academy deadline to register is today! The SUHSD Summer Camp for VAPA students is June 6 – 10, 2022 from 9AM – 3PM each day. The Summer Arts Academy will be held this year at Chula Vista High School. The SUHSD Summer Arts Academy is a FREE one week camp offered each summer to Sweetwater Union High School District students that are currently enrolled in the arts.

Industry professionals judge the submissions and awards are given to the top entries that consist of the entire Sweetwater Union High School District. Over 800 student works were entered this year!

Digital Media Showcase – 2022

2022 District Digital Media Showcase  will be presented virtually on Thursday, May 19th, 2022 at 6pm. This year’s District Digital Media Showcase poster is downloadable HERE, and designed by Aaron Garcia.

The thirteenth annual Digital Media Showcase features student work created in digital media classes throughout the Sweetwater Union High School District. Student work in photography, computer art, graphic design, and video are all celebrated. Industry professionals judge the student submissions and awards are given to the top entries!

Entry Deadline is Friday, April 8th, 2022.
