2019 District Digital Media Showcase was Thursday, May 2nd, 2019 at 6pm. Location: Otay Ranch High School Pavilion (1250 Olympic Parkway, Chula Vista, CA 91913) Downloadable HERE, designed by ORH student Natalie Hoang.
The eleventh annual Digital Media Showcase featured student work created in digital media classes throughout the Sweetwater Union High School District. Student work in photography, computer art, graphic design, video, and music technology was celebrated. Industry professionals judged the submissions and awards are given to the top entries!

Special thanks to all our community judges, teachers, and staff for volunteering their time and supporting the arts in our schools.
The Sweetwater Summer Arts Academy is a FREE one week learning opportunity offered each summer to Sweetwater Union High School District students in Visual and Performing Arts classes.
The 2019 Academy takes place at Chula Vista High School from June 10th through June 14th, 2019 from 9am-4pm, Monday thru Friday. Lunch will be served. Each day will be divided into 5 sessions including work specific to each discipline as well as leadership skills.
Interested students may apply below. Teachers from each of our school sites will then recommend students from the seven VAPA disciplines (Visual Art, Orchestra, Choir, Concert Band, Dance, Baile Folklorico, and Mariachi) to attend the Academy.
If you are interested in attending the Summer Arts Academy in 2019, please fill out this form AND turn in the printed part of the application to the VAPA Office. Make sure you have your parent’s permission to attend the entire week: June 10-14, 2019.
IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON ATTENDING SUMMER SCHOOL, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY. YOU CANNOT ATTEND BOTH SUMMER SCHOOL AND THE SUMMER ARTS ACADEMY.

VAPA is pleased to partner with Art of Elan and ARTS (A Reason To Survive) in the 2018 Young Artists in Harmony program.
Young Artists in Harmony (YAH) is a unique internship program offered by the innovative chamber music organization
Art of Elan, in partnership with A Reason To Survive (ARTS) in National City, where advanced music students have the opportunity to:
Participants in Young Artists in Harmony receive mentoring from professional Art of Elan musicians, and meet weekly at ARTS to both compose music in the computer lab (using Finale software) and try out ideas with other musicians.
The fall program runs October 13 – Dec 15, with sessions each Saturday (except Thanksgiving weekend) from 1-4pm
Final concerts are Dec. 15th at ARTS and January 23rd at the San Diego Art Institute in Balboa Park.
A one-hour orientation for new students and families takes place on Thursday, October 11th at 6:30pm at ARTS.

Congratulations to Montgomery High School student Susan Pierce for winning First Place, Best in Class, and Best of Show in Thematic Art at the San Diego County Fair! Also to the Student Showcase Donated Award winners Sophia Bobis and Daniel Gochicoa and the 26 first place winners from teacher Lynette Young-Golding!

Congratulations to Sweetwater High School’s After School Arts Program for creating an impressive mural at Frank Toyota in National City, CA. A formal presentation took place on Friday, January 26th at 3 p.m. The arts program was awarded $500!
