The 17th Annual Sweetwater Summer Theatre Institute presents SHREK THE MUSICAL Production Dates: July 24-27, 2019 / Wednesday – Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2:00 p.m. At San Ysidro High School Dr. Maida Torres Stanovik Performing Arts Center (5353 Airway Road, San Diego, CA 92154) General admission is $10, Students & Seniors is $5. 2019 Sweetwater Summer Arts Academy

The Sweetwater Summer Arts Academy is a FREE one week learning opportunity offered each summer to Sweetwater Union High School District students in Visual and Performing Arts classes.

The 2019 Academy takes place at Chula Vista High School from June 10th through June 14th, 2019 from 9am-4pm, Monday thru Friday. Lunch will be served. Each day will be divided into 5 sessions including work specific to each discipline as well as leadership skills.

Interested students may apply below. Teachers from each of our school sites will then recommend students from the seven VAPA disciplines (Visual Art, Orchestra, Choir, Concert Band, Dance, Baile Folklorico, and Mariachi) to attend the Academy.

If you are interested in attending the Summer Arts Academy in 2019, please fill out this form AND turn in the printed part of the application to the VAPA Office. Make sure you have your parent’s permission to attend the entire week: June 10-14, 2019.

IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON ATTENDING SUMMER SCHOOL, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY. YOU CANNOT ATTEND BOTH SUMMER SCHOOL AND THE SUMMER ARTS ACADEMY.

District Dance Concert is Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Eastlake High School Ruth Chapman Performing Arts Center (1120 Eastlake Parkway, Chula Vista, 91915) Featuring SUHSD’s middle and high school dance programs. Tickets are $5 and are only available in advance; please contact a Dance Teacher at your school.

District Baile Folklorico Concert

District Baile Folklorico Concert is Friday & Saturday March 9 & 10, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday Matinee at 2:00 p.m. Location: San Ysidro High School Dr. Maida Torres-Stanovik Performing Arts Center (5353 Airway Road, San Diego 92154) Featuring SUHSD Folklorico groups representing diverse regions of Mexico, displaying traditional costumes, and wonderfully choreographed routines. Tickets are $10

Congratulations to the 2017 Mariachi Scholarship Foundation award recipients! Concert & Award Ceremony is Thursday, May 18 from 7:30 – 9:30 pm at Southwestern College Mayan Hall (900 Otay Lakes Rd., Chula Vista, 91910)

Featuring Mariachi performances from Chula Vista High School, Sweetwater High School, Otay Ranch High School, Southwest High School, and Intermediate & Advanced Southwestern College Mariachis. Tickets are $10 at the door ($7 students/seniors) Free parking in Lot “O” on Otay Lakes, South of “H” Street.
